1. The Fortress of Brest
The Fortress of Brest is the second largest war monument in the former Soviet Union. Located in the city of Brest Belarus. This statue is a tribute to "courage" famous last German attack against the Soviet Union during the early days of World War II. Its size and shape are very impressive display of toughness.
2. Mount Rushmore National Memorial
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into becoming a granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, USA. Sculpted by Gutzon Borglum and later by his son Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore as high as 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of former U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The entire memorial covers 1,278.45 acres (5.17 km2) and 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level.
3. The Confederate Memorial Carving
Stone Mountain Park has the largest high relief sculpture in the world, the Confederate Memorial Carving. Carving the 3 heroes of the Confederacy to honor the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and General Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. The entire carved surface of 3 hectares, larger than a football field. The carving of 3 400 feet above the ground, measuring 90 to 190 feet, and 42 feet into the mountain hidden. Deepest point of the carving that was in Lee's elbow, which is 12 feet to the surface of the mountain.
4. The Bust of Ataturk
A giant statue of The Bust of Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, is being built in Buca, a suburb of the Aegean port city of Izmir, western Turkey.Small note: A cow was reported to have sent to another village by the owner after destroying a statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, in the park elementary school in the eastern province of Malatya.
5. The Buddha Matreiya
Located in the hills Jishi 35 kilometers (22 miles) southwest of the village Yongjing, Gansu Province. Bingling Thousand Buddha caves are cultural treasures of the Silk Road. The largest of the sculptures, The Matreiya Buddha, standing almost as tall as 100 feet (27 meters).
6. Petra
Petra is a historic and archaeological city in Jordan that has rock cut architecture. Founded around the 6th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataeans. It is a symbol of Jordan as well as a tourist attraction the most visited, chosen by the BBC as one of "40 places to see before you die". This site had featured in films such as Indiana Jones and Transformers.
7. Leshan Giant Buddha
Leshan Giant Buddha is a statue of Maitreya is in a sitting position. In December 1996, the location of the Buddha included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. Started in the year 713 in the Tang Dynasty, and completed in the year 803, the statue work requires more than 90 years to be completed. At the time of the beginning of construction, this is the tallest statue in the world. During this year, thousands of workers have been issued abilities and expectations on this project. As the largest stone carving Buddha, Leshan Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song and story.
8. Crazy Horse Memorial
Located in South Dakota, a large carving of Oglala Lakota warrior, with his horse was started by Korczak Ziolkowski in 1948 in the Black Hills. 10. Church of St George
Church of St George carved entirely out of a single block of granite with a roof above ground level in the small town of Lalibela in Ethiopia and is one of 11 churches made of carved stone. Lalibela churches are not built, they dug. Each church is created by first carving out a wide trench on all four sides of the rock, then painstakingly chiseling out the interior. The largest church is 40 meters, and the labor involved to complete such a task simply by using a hammer and chisel.
